Allegra Franchino

4th Year Marie-Curie DPhil Student

I am Allegra - literally, the Cheerful - an Italian girl born and raised in Como. I studied Chemistry at the University of Milan (5 years) and at RWTH Aachen, Germany (6-months Erasmus stay). My BSc and MSc research projects, carried out under the supervision of Prof. Cesare Gennari, concerned the synthesis of Rh- and Fe-complexes for asymmetric hydrogenations. I then moved to Oxford as a Marie-Curie Early Stage Researcher. During my PhD in the Dixon group I am developing novel metal-catalysed addition reactions to C=O and C=N bonds. In my free time I enjoy visiting new places and spending time with my family.
