Andrew Maitland

Final Year SBM CDT Student

I'm originally from Ayr in Scotland, and I completed my MChem at the University of St Andrews. As part of my degree, I spent 12 months working on the design and synthesis of novel herbicides with Syngenta at Jealott's Hill. During my final year in St Andrews, I worked on chalcogen-bonding catalysis under the supervision of Prof. Andrew Smith and Dr Mark Greenhalgh. I joined the Dixon group in 2019, focusing my research on the development of new photochemistry methods. In my spare time, I enjoy working on cars, sewing, and flying light aircraft.
